A little handmade box inspired by the beautiful typography, packaging and printed ephemera of old French shops.

This box has been constructed entirely by hand in the Pomme de Jour studio from vintage French card stock, then finished with imagery from an antique French trade piece for Maison Jacquin Jeune, a Parisian seed and plant merchant.

The wonderfully detailed old advertisement features a gardener surrounded by plants, with French typography advertising graines, plantes, arbres and oignons à fleurs. I love that something once entirely practical can become so decorative more than a century later.

Nothing began life as a ready-made box. From the box itself to the finished decorative surface, each one is individually made by me.

Perfect for keeping old buttons, jewellery, sewing notions, tiny collections, seeds, paper treasures or other small keepsakes. It also makes a lovely object simply displayed amongst antique textiles and ephemera.

As each box is individually handmade, there will be small variations in the folds, edges and finish. No two will be completely identical.
