A small Studio Made portrait box, created using an old card jewellery box and a found historical portrait.

I chose this wonderful sitter for her extraordinary blue dress, lace collar, gold earrings and rather direct gaze, then mounted the image permanently onto the original lid.

The box itself has been left with all the evidence of its previous life intact. The softly aged interior, worn edges, marks and discolouration are part of its character rather than something I wanted to disguise.

At just 5.5 cm square, it is a lovely little object for keeping a favourite button, charm, tiny piece of jewellery or other small treasure. Equally, it can simply sit amongst a collection of old boxes, portraits and curiosities.

Part of my Studio Made collection, where found images and old objects are brought together to give something overlooked a new story.
