A beautifully decorative late Victorian easel frame featuring richly embossed Rococo-inspired scrollwork, an aged silver-tone finish and an original burgundy velvet backing. Dating from the late 19th century, the frame reflects the ornate taste and craftsmanship popular during the Victorian era, making it as much a decorative object as a display piece.
The frame stands freely on its original easel support and retains a wonderfully timeworn surface with areas of age-related patina that enhance its character. The deep burgundy velvet reverse provides a striking contrast to the silvered metal front, while the elaborate scrolling decoration gives the piece an elegant, romantic presence.
