A charming little vintage gilt metal stand, with decorative feet, finely detailed edging and a beautifully aged finish.

Originally intended, I believe, to support a small glass or ceramic bowl, the circular frame has four inward-facing metal supports where an insert would have rested.

I particularly like the ornate feet and the contrast between the remaining gold finish and the darker patina that has developed over the years.

There are several ways to give this lovely old piece a new purpose. It could hold a small terracotta plant pot, a ceramic planter, a shallow glass bowl filled with shells or dried flowers, or a little dish for jewellery and other treasures.

It would also make an attractive decorative piece in its own right, displayed on a shelf or amongst a collection of antique and vintage objects.
