1890s Floral Needlepoint Panel With Roses

1890s Floral Needlepoint Panel With Roses

£40.00

A beautiful late Victorian floral needlepoint panel, dating from the 1890s, worked in wool on open weave canvas. The central bouquet features lush pink roses, red blooms, blue flowers, and greenery against a deep black ground, framed by a warm golden border patterned with stylised leaves. The reverse reveals the meticulous hand-stitching and the time-softened backing canvas, showing its age and authenticity.

Likely intended for a cushion front or chair seat, this piece reflects the skill and artistry of late 19th-century domestic needlework. The palette retains much of its vibrancy, with soft wear to some areas that only enhances its antique charm.

Perfect for framing, restoration into a decorative textile, or incorporation into a period-inspired interior project.

Condition: Light scattered wear and some small thread losses, consistent with age. The original open-weave canvas shows areas of lumpy whitish residue on the reverse, likely from historical mounting or adhesive, which do not affect the stability of the piece. Backing canvas also has minor wear in places.
