A small vintage tin, reworked in my studio with a carefully sourced historic portrait print.

The original tin has been left very much as found, with wonderful surface wear, scratches, losses and darkened areas from age. I’ve added the portrait to the lid, trimming and gently working the edges so that it sits naturally against the timeworn surface rather than looking newly applied.

The portrait shows a woman in an elaborate lace and ribbon headdress against a deep black background, particularly striking against the battered old tin.

A lovely little piece for keeping pins, needles, buttons, jewellery or other tiny treasures, or simply to display among old papers and curiosities.
