A one-of-a-kind vintage box, completely reworked by hand in the Pomme de Jour studio using imagery and materials taken from antique pieces in my own collection.

The exterior has been covered with a print created from my own scan of an antique floral fabric, with its lovely patchwork design of faded pinks, mauves, tiny roses and teal flowers.

On one corner I've added a reproduction of the wonderful little Au Bon Marché Paris price ticket found on the reverse of an original antique boudoir box in my collection. It is one of those tiny surviving details of an object's past that I particularly love.

Open the box and there is another layer entirely. The interior has been lined by hand with original antique French maps, bringing together old cartography, faded florals and fragments of French ephemera.

The vintage box itself has not been made to look new. Small irregularities and traces of its previous life remain and form part of the finished piece.

A unique little place for letters, photographs, jewellery, ribbons and other collected treasures — or simply a decorative object in its own right.

Materials: Vintage box, reproduction of antique fabric from my own scan, reproduction Au Bon Marché ticket from an antique original, original antique French maps, paper and adhesive.

Condition: Made using a genuine vintage box and antique paper. Age-related marks, wear and irregularities are intentionally retained as part of the character of the piece. Please see photographs for details.
