Antique French Ledger Paper Illustrated Cards, Set of 4

Antique French Ledger Paper Illustrated Cards, Set of 4
A set of four one-of-a-kind cards handmade in my studio using original French ledger paper dating from 1829, paired with carefully sourced period-style illustrations.
Each card retains the wonderful character of the old ledger, handwritten script, ruled lines, marks, variations in tone and softly worn edges. The illustrations have been individually selected and mounted onto the antique paper, so no two cards are quite alike
.Each card is handmade in my studio using original French ledger paper dating from 1829, combined with illustrations sourced from an original 1883 book illustrated by Walter Crane and colour printed by the celebrated Victorian engraver and printer Edmund Evans.
Inside, a simple blank panel provides space for your own message while allowing the original ledger paper to remain visible around it.
Beautiful as cards, but equally lovely kept afterwards as small pieces of ephemera for a pinboard, journal or collection.
Set includes:
4 handmade cards
4 kraft envelopes
Size: approximately 11 × 15 cm each
Part of my Studio Made collection, made by hand using original antique and vintage materials.
Because genuine 1829 paper is used, age marks, handwriting, discolouration, irregular edges and other signs of its almost 200-year history are part of each piece.
