A wonderfully nostalgic pair of vintage illustrated cards featuring the enchanting work of British illustrator René Cloke.

The first, The Sandman, shows the Sandman sweeping through a deep blue night sky accompanied by a procession of tiny fairies, with bats silhouetted beneath them. The second, The Dream Fairy, is softer and dreamier, with a winged fairy watching over three tiny sleeping children nestled inside pink flowers beneath the moon.

Both illustrations are signed René Cloke within the image and retain their original printed titles beneath.

Cloke is particularly loved for her fairy-tale and children's illustrations, and these two make a particularly lovely pairing, both centred around sleep, dreams and nighttime magic. The colours are beautiful, especially the deep teal blue of The Sandman and the muted pinks and mauves of The Dream Fairy.

They have a genuine aged quality, with some toning, small marks and wear to the edges and corners, all part of their vintage character. Please study the photographs for condition.
