George Petty 1948 Pin-Up Calendar, Incomplete but Largely Intact

George Petty 1948 Pin-Up Calendar, Incomplete but Largely Intact

£165.00

Original 1948 George Petty 'Petty Girl' calendar, retaining all twelve monthly illustrations, with original comb binding and backing board. Front cover absent and January page damaged, otherwise surviving as a remarkably complete example."

A wonderful survivor from the golden age of American pin-up illustration, this original 1948 wall calendar features artwork by the celebrated artist George Petty, whose instantly recognisable "Petty Girls" became icons of mid-century advertising, magazines and popular culture.

The calendar retains all twelve monthly illustrations, each printed in rich colour and accompanied by its original 1948 date panel. The front cover and title page are no longer present, and January shows significant wear and losses, but the remaining months display remarkably vibrant colour and striking visual impact.

Petty's elegant, elongated figures, playful poses and glamorous styling epitomise post-war American illustration. Today his work is sought after by collectors of vintage advertising, pin-up art, illustration and twentieth-century ephemera.

This example remains bound with its original red cord binding and backing board. The artwork has not been removed or separated, offering the opportunity to preserve the calendar as a complete surviving object or, for a future owner, to frame individual pages.
