A wonderfully evocative pair of antique French silk satin slippers dating from the late Victorian to Edwardian period, around 1890 to 1915.
Made in rich black silk satin with supple leather soles, they retain their delicate ribbon bows and long silk ankle ties, details that have survived remarkably well. The elegant square toes and fine hand finished construction are characteristic of fashionable indoor footwear from the turn of the twentieth century.
The leather soles carry a faint Paris stamp, suggesting they were made for the French market. They remain beautifully sculptural, with soft wear consistent with age, making them equally appealing to collectors of historic costume, theatre, display, photography styling, or interior decoration.
These are sold as a decorative antique rather than for modern wear.

Condition
