Weathered Sculptural Horse Head Fragment

Weathered Sculptural Horse Head Fragment
A soulful, timeworn fragment with a commanding presence. This sculptural horse head is rough-hewn, softened by age, and mottled in hues of blue-grey, green, and ochre. It appears to be made from plaster or a similar composite material and is now mounted on a simple wooden block that complements its rustic form.
Its surface is deeply textured with traces of pinkish pigment and scattered pits and fissures, hinting at long-lost layers and former finishes. From one angle, the profile feels classically equine, even noble, from another, nearly abstract, inviting the viewer to fill in the story. The reverse side unexpectedly evokes the silhouette of a weathered face, adding to its enigmatic charm.
Whether placed among art books or perched on a studio shelf, it’s a piece that brings gravitas and mystery, part artefact, part muse.
