Vintage 1920s New Year Postcard, Wedding Dolls

Vintage 1920s New Year Postcard, Wedding Dolls
A wonderfully unusual 1920s New Year postcard, featuring a tiny bride and groom setting off together beneath an enormous sweep of red carpet.
The wonderfully surreal image shows two little doll-like figures dressed as newlyweds, the bride carrying her bouquet and the groom complete with top hat, standing at the foot of a grand staircase. Beneath them is the simple greeting:
“Good Health and Good Luck in the New Year.”
The reverse is just as lovely, filled with faded handwritten correspondence, an original red one penny stamp and a clear 22 December 1920 postmark. It was sent to Miss J. Osborne in Tollesbury, Essex.
Printed by British Manufacture, No. 222 X.
A particularly charming piece of early twentieth-century ephemera, with that slightly strange, dreamlike quality that makes old postcards so appealing. Lovely displayed as it is, tucked into a collection, framed, or used as inspiration for an assemblage.
