Vintage Withernsea Eastgate Fauna Squirrel Vase, c.1960s
Vintage Withernsea Eastgate Fauna Squirrel Vase, c.1960s
A wonderfully eccentric piece of mid-century English pottery from the Withernsea Eastgate Fauna range, modelled as a hollow tree trunk with a tiny squirrel sitting beneath a canopy of glossy green leaves.
The moulding is fabulous, from the deeply textured bark and little knot details to the softly shaded leaves, but of course it is the small russet squirrel peeping out from the tree that makes it. There is something delightfully storybook about these old Fauna pieces.
Made in England by Withernsea Eastgate Pottery and bearing the original printed FAUNA backstamp to the base. Dating to around the 1960s.
A lovely little piece of vintage English pottery for flowers, pencils or simply sitting on a shelf exactly as it is.
