A lovely old English advertising pot, originally made for Horrocks & Watson's Springfield Home Potted Meats of Southport.

Made from cream glazed ceramic, this little pot has a beautifully simple shape with a gently flared rim and bold black transfer-printed lettering. The original advertising reads:

HORROCKS & WATSON
“SPRINGFIELD”
HOME POTTED MEATS
SOUTHPORT

Originally intended to hold potted meat, these small ceramic containers are now wonderful pieces of everyday social history. I particularly love the old typography, which gives such an ordinary household object its charm.

Perfect for displaying alongside other antique advertising pots, in a kitchen collection, or repurposed to hold small treasures.

Condition: Antique condition with signs of age and use, including discolouration, surface marks, crazing and wear to the base. There are also small marks and areas of wear around the rim, as shown in the photographs. Please study the images carefully.

A lovely little survivor from an era when even everyday food packaging was worth keeping.
