Miniature Curiosity Bottle with Vintage Beads & Old Key

Miniature Curiosity Bottle with Vintage Beads & Old Key
A tiny gathering of things once kept, used and eventually forgotten.
This one-off assemblage has been created from a small glass bottle filled with a collection of old glass beads, crystal-like fragments and tiny gilt metal findings. Around the neck hangs an old key, still accompanied by a wonderfully worn handwritten fabric label.
Nothing quite matches, which is precisely the point. Transparent, frosted, iridescent and softly coloured pieces catch the light through the glass, while the battered key and fragile old label give the bottle the feeling of something discovered rather than newly made.
The bottle retains its cork stopper and has been assembled in the Pomme de Jour studio using collected vintage and found materials. Age, tarnishing, marks and imperfections have all been deliberately retained.
A small found-object study for a shelf, cabinet or collection of curious things.
