A wonderfully colourful early Walt Disney Cinderella Christmas card, dating to around 1950, and produced in Britain with permission of Walt Disney Mickey Mouse Ltd.

The theatrical illustration depicts Cinderella and her pumpkin coach against a fantastical palace setting, framed by deep crimson stage curtains. Dating from around the time of Disney's original 1950 release of Cinderella, the reverse carries the early British licensing wording "By Permission Walt Disney Mickey Mouse Ltd."

The colourful illustration is presented almost as a stage performance, framed by deep crimson curtains and showing Cinderella stepping from her magical coach, complete with the Prince, footmen and a team of white horses. Tiny stars and wonderfully fanciful architectural details give the whole scene the feeling of a Christmas pantomime.

Inside is an elegant printed Christmas greeting, with an original handwritten signature beneath, adding a lovely personal trace of its former life.

A particularly decorative piece of mid-century Christmas ephemera, and a beautiful example for displaying, framing or using as inspiration for festive paper projects.
