Antique Blue Stripe Cotton Sheet, Pieced Panels, c. 1890 to 1920

Antique Blue Stripe Cotton Sheet, Pieced Panels, c. 1890 to 1920
Beautifully simple and full of quiet character, this antique cotton sheet is woven with classic indigo blue ticking stripes against a soft ivory ground. Constructed several narrow widths of cotton cloth, carefully joined together in the traditional manner, it reflects traditional textile production from the late 19th to early 20th century.
The finely stitched panel seams are part of its original construction and speak to an era when wider fabrics were less readily available. Wonderfully preserved, the cotton remains soft and strong, making it as useful today as it is beautiful.
Measuring 175 x 249 cm, this generous textile is ideal as a lightweight bed covering, curtain fabric, table covering, upholstery project, or for creating cushions and other home furnishings.
Condition
Excellent antique condition. The cotton is clean, strong and well preserved. The joined panels are original to the making of the sheet and are not later repairs.
