Early Steiff Mohair Deer – Straw-Filled & Threadbare

Early Steiff Mohair Deer – Straw-Filled & Threadbare
A deer with stories stitched into every seam. This early Steiff deer – likely from the 1930’s or 40’s – is a beautifully timeworn example of German toy craft. Straw-filled and softly faded, her mohair coat is now charmingly threadbare in places, revealing the honest wear of a well-loved life.
She stands on her own, alert and gentle, with glass eyes, stitched facial features, and a hand-sewn structure typical of early Steiff animals. Though her signature button is long gone, the craftsmanship sings true – from the delicate shaping of her legs to the expressive tilt of her ears.
Perfect for a nursery shelf, a collector’s cabinet, or simply to bring a little quiet nostalgia to a corner of your home.
