1960s Customised French Moleskin Chore Coat With Sashiko
This one-of-a-kind vintage French moleskin chore jacket has been beautifully restored and customised with hand-stitched sashiko embroidery, antique French ticking patches, and visible mending. Made in France by Adolphe Lafont, it retains the original workwear silhouette with added layers of textile history and artistry.
Its soft faded indigo tone, visible repair work, and antique fabric accents make it a collector’s piece, bridging the world of traditional craft with slow fashion. The original buttons were long gone and have been replaced with vintage ones that suit the garment’s character.
Custom stitched by textile artist Woo Aherne for Pomme de Jour, each patch was selected from vintage scraps to highlight the garment’s history while ensuring full wearability. A testament to reuse and reinvention, it celebrates French workwear heritage and textile repair traditions.
