A rather unsettling little Halloween card for those who prefer the macabre to pumpkins and ghosts.

A solemn old portrait has been given a slightly sinister transformation, with the sitter's eyes scratched away by hand. Mounted onto a thrifted greetings card, the finished piece has the curious feeling of something found tucked inside an old album rather than something newly made.

There’s a hint of Victorian mourning portrait about him, a little forgotten-family-album oddness, and the feeling that perhaps this is something you weren’t supposed to find.

Each portrait is mounted by hand onto a thrifted greetings card, giving existing paper goods a new life rather than using newly made card stock. Because the cards are found individually, there may be very slight variations between them.
