An extraordinary and rare vintage French tablecloth, hand-embroidered in colourful wool thread on beautifully textured hemp rather than linen. The cloth features densely stitched florals surrounding the entire border, with four delicate sprigs positioned near the centre. Each motif is crafted with care, showcasing vibrant daisies, cornflowers, and soft meadow hues.
Unlike most examples found on linen, this piece is stitched onto robust hemp fabric, adding unique texture and charm. There is one small repair and two pale pink stains—gentle reminders of its history. Still, the condition is remarkable and the embroidery remains bright, full of life, and full of character.
