Original 1930s-1950s Clergy Correspondence Archive - Rev H.A.Moreton

£24.00

A remarkable collection of mid-20th century ecclesiastical ephemera, this archive features personal letters, envelopes, and a rare black-and-white photograph of three clergymen, likely including Reverend H.A Moreton-recipient of the correspondence. Dated between 1931 and 1953, the letters are addressed to him at Flamborough Vicarage, and later The Close, Hereford, revealing a quiet thread of continuity across decades.

Of particular note is the striking image of the three clergy, one appearing to be a bishop, with Rev. Moreton likey pictured among them. The photograph is mounted alongside a Bedford postmarked envelope from December 17, 1931, stamped with “Post Early for Christmas”. Additional envelopes are postmarked Verneuil-sur-Avre, France, and bear stunning examples of mid-century French and British stamps, many from the Marianne de Gandon and King George VI series. Several are marked withe the return address of Ecole des Roches, a prestigious French boarding school, suggesting a cross-channel connection.

This grouping would appeal to:
