1940s Double Spécial French darning wool card in grey

1940s Double Spécial French darning wool card in grey
A vintage French darning wool card (not a box) in a classic soft grey, dating to the 1940s. Originally produced by Lille–Wallaert Frères, Paris, these Double Spécial Pour Lainages thread cards were made for repairing socks, undergarments, and woollen clothing. Each card holds 8 metres of fine wool thread, wound onto its original blue and cream printed card.
While intended for mending, these versatile threads are equally suited for embroidery, cross stitch, appliqué, visible mending, and slow stitch projects. A beautiful and practical piece of French textile history, still in excellent condition after decades.
