A lovely little antique open salt cellar, made from beautifully cut glass and finished with a hallmarked silver rim.

The glass has a wonderfully crisp geometric cut pattern, with star and diamond-like facets that catch the light beautifully. Around the top is a simple silver collar, now softly tarnished and showing the gentle irregularities and wear that come with age.

Originally made for serving salt at the table, its tiny scale makes it a particularly charming piece today. It would sit beautifully amongst a collection of antique glass and silver, or could be repurposed to hold a tiny piece of jewellery or other small treasure.

The silver rim bears a series of impressed hallmarks, including what appears to be a G.E.W. maker's mark. I have left the silver unpolished, preserving its lovely aged patina.

Condition:

Good antique condition with general age-related wear. There is tarnishing and surface wear to the silver rim, together with some small nibbles/chips around the edge of the glass foot, consistent with age and use.
