Regency Stripe Rayon Jacquard (1940s)

Regency Stripe Rayon Jacquard (1940s)
A striking mid-century British rayon, jacquard, woven in alternating soft coral and muted cream stripes. This postwar fabric evokes the refined motifs of the Regency period - floral sprigs tied with bows, scrolling garlands - reinterpreted in a practical synthetic blend ideal for the domestic revival of the 1940s - 50s.
The weave is rich with texture and sheen, typical of Miracle rayon and similar wartime innovations. It was likely used for parlour curtains or upholstery in a modest but hopeful home - where beauty met utility in every thread.
A lovely candidate for restoration projects, theatrical costumes, or collectors of mid-century British textiles with a story.
Condition: Excellent condition with minimal signs of age. Clean and strong, with good drape and sheen. The tape top, however, is much newer - probably added withing the last 20-30 years.
